Back in the shop. Finally!

The small chisel was still sharp after a year and only needed a little stropping to shave hair.

Been a long time coming. Been a long year with many distractions from my Paul Sellers inspired bookcase I started a year ago. I was so close back then. Had all the shelves made and hand cut the dados and fitted the shelves. Just needed to add in the cross rails. I had even cut the rails and put on the tennons. Tonight, a year later, I just buckled down and laid out one of the center rail mortises and chopped it out. Fits good enough and is square. Hopefully, it won’t take me another year to finish. I have stacks of old woodworking books waiting for a proper home. Wish me luck.

2 rails fit on one side.

About senrabc

Hi, this is not really about anything. Just me testing the intertubes with my own random meanderings and thoughts. Ostensibly, big word, I’m using this site as my personal log of sorts. I’m a random guy with 4 kids and a beautiful wife living in sunny Florida. Pardon the gratuitous posts with pictures of cute kids. I have an iPhone and can’t help myself. My day job is working in the area of informatics at the University of Florida where I like the shell. Oh, yeah and incase you can’t tell I like woodworking with handtools. Goes along with my command line philosophy 😉 Thanks for reading. Christopher P. Barnes
